My life is ruled by the school year. Some are driven by the fiscal year or the calendar year but not the Pitcher house. I don't know what it would be like to not have the school year driving me forward at the end of each August. My life as long as I remember is driven by the beginning, holidays, and the end of the school year. I attended school for 16 years, taught school for two, and married a school teacher. There is no escaping it. Maybe I should do New School Year Resolutions and stay up until midnight to let the Ball Drop. I guess that seems a little unrealistic when you need your sleep to do well in school. Yep, that is right on Monday Justin is back in school. We have already had our first Cross Country meet and he has been at school all week without students. It is the beginning of the madness. Justin's gone long hours coaching and at meets, grading papers, going to school functions, taking road trips with athletes, and all that is required of an under paid and over worked teacher. I guess it could be worse, like track season- the meets take days instead of hours. He loves it and I guess that is all that matters. Plus, what does a person do at the end of August when you don't have to get ready for school? I don't think I will ever know!

Mullets, Miniskirts, and Mayhem
The Pitcher Clan ventured to the Salt Lake County Fair this weekend. Justin was really feeling the need to go and I wasn't so sure. I finally relented and we sally forthed to South Jordan for all the exploits the county fair offers. Let me inform you first I haven't really been to a county fair unless Orange County counts which in the tales I am about to share it doesn't even come close. You must be wondering what the title has to do with a harmless county fair, EVERYTHING! We went on a night with the Demolition Derby so every mullet, missing toothed, tattooed man came from every corner of West Salt Lake County. It was interesting I have never seen such variety in the lack of teeth and mullet styles. I thought the people coming to the fair were on the scary scale until I glanced at the booths with the "carnies". How is it that parents willingly send their innocent small children into the clutches of the "carnies". I am sure they are decent hard working people??? or just about the scariest people you could meet not in a dark ally. We walk through Carnie Land and end up enjoying a Lumberjack show. It was all so weird. A 75 year old guy, Speedy, chopped a log in half in under a minute. If I could do that today let alone when I am 75. Impressive! Then we saw the animals which smelled and Makayla was not all that thrilled about. She did like the bunnies. We walked into the area where the entertainment was, if you could call it that, it was a bad 80's band with a rotten dancer. This poor girl wasn't even dancing well maybe interpretive dance but what ever it was it was BAD. I was embarrassed for her or maybe it was a dare with high stakes?? It was just bad I am sure I will have nightmares about the girl. We walked around the booths and were told numerous times how cute our twins are (I really can't blame the onlookers, my boys are cute). But oh the people I saw at the fair: Pat- with the s/he mullet down to her/his waist. The old lady in the miniskirt and the biggest hair ever, I swear it had to be 10 inches off her scalp. The countless other people that didn't look SO bad after you took a look at the scary carnies. I don't know what I was expecting at the County Fair but it certainly paid me back in dividends for interesting Twilight Zone entertainment. I really hope that I don't have too many nightmares about the County Fair. It was fun I swear; I am sure you will catch me at the next one! :)

A Three Year Olds Perspective
I have to brag about how talented and brilliant my three year old is. She has an amazing seense for color and lighting. Not to mention her angles in her photographs. Okay not really. Makayla took my camera, a regular occurrence lately, and took a few pictures (a lot of pictures). There is nothing more frustrating then picking up your camera and have the little memory full screen come up. It is pretty funny to see the world through a three year old's eyes. They certainly have a different perspective. The things that are important to them seem simple or less important to us. But I do thing some of them are pretty cool! So, I thought I should show case her best work.
Title: Feet with Dress Up
(She has entire feet series like feet with towel. I spared you the rest)
Title: Shadowy Brother
Title: Door
Title: Wagon full of Blocks
This is part of her toy series which is quite good.
Title: Self Upside Down
If you are interested in purchasing this artists amazing work please send me a comment and I can get back to you on pricing. She also has a toilet series, furniture series, and blankets series.

Friday Night at Wheeler Farm
Justin got back on Friday from his High Altitude Running Camp. He took some of his athletes up to Alta Ski Resort to camp and to run torturous trails. I guess that sounds fun to them. The entire running thing eludes me. He said they all had a great time including the many parents that attended. Justin got back and cleaned up and wanted to go feed ducks with the kids. We stopped at his parents; had some dinner and then headed to Wheeler Farm to feed ducks. Justin's parents joined us. We all fed the ducks and then let the kids go and play in the tree house. We walked around looking at all the animals; the kids loved all the animals. The boys enjoyed the sheep. Makayla liked feeding the baby swans. Justin loved torturing the chickens (one in particular). Isn't that a sign of a serial killer or something??? Well, we all had a great time. It is on the nights like this that I just enjoy being with my family.

Girl's Weekend
It is not everyday that you get to run off to California minus the kids and hubby. Well last weekend I did! My mom took my sister and me to California for a fun retreat and relaxing weekend. We shopped, went to the beach, layed out, went to Wicked, enjoyed art at the Getty, driving lost in LA, and had In-n-Out. We had so much fun being goofy together. We stayed at Marriot Newport Beach it is a gorgeous hotel in a lovelly location. We flew in bright and early on Thursday morning and I thought it would be fun to go to the Museum of Tolerance. With our trusty Enterprise map to lead the way we headed north to LA. We drove around Wilshire and Rodeo but we were hopelessly lost the map was absolutely NO help. So after about a half hour we 411 and come to find out the part of the museum that we wanted to see was temporarily closed. So up to the Getty we went. We saw the craziest piece of functional junk art ever- the Uberorgeon. It played music, it was pretty neat. Friday we woke up and headed to the Rainbow factory in San Clemente. I got my Rainbows replaced for FREE because the stitching was going bad. We layed out and relaxed alot. Friday night was the highlight of the weekend, Wicked. I knew the story from the book and love the music so I was really excited. WOW it is so cute and fun. I just loved it!! We saw it in LA in the Pantages Theater. It is worth just going to that theater. It was built in 1922 and absolutely amazing artdeco on steriods! Saturday walked around Balboa Island and shopped at Irvine Spectrum. We flew out late on Saturday. We had a such a great weekend.
Well here we are jumping on the blogging bandwagon. It is fun to read about what is going on with everyone. Nothing really exciting every really happens in the Pitcher's home. Don't get your hopes up that this blog will fill that void that you have. However, I will be using it as my own personal soap box so watch out.
